A century on Place Vendôme

The atelier began in 1924 above a dressmaker, with two benches, one polisher, and a rule written on the wall: nothing leaves until it reads perfect under magnification. The wall has been repainted. The rule has not changed.

Place Vendôme was not an obvious address for a house with no clients. The square belonged to the great Parisian Maisons, and a newcomer with four benches had no business there. Our founder rented the attic anyway, on the argument that light falls into the courtyard the same way it falls everywhere.

A hundred years later the workshop occupies the same floor. The apprenticeship is still four years, the polishing wheels are still cotton, and the certificates are still checked by a second pair of eyes before a piece is allowed to travel.

What has changed is everything around the bench. Recycled metal instead of newly mined, laboratories that can read a stone's history, clients who ask where things come from. The craft adapted around the rule. The rule never moved.
